Bristol conference returns to showcase musicians from across South West
On April 2, Bristol Beacon will host the return of Above The Noise, a conference intended to “connect anyone active in the region’s music scene with the modern music business.”
The daytime conference will be followed by an evening gig showcasing “unheard and unreleased material.”
Above The Noise is organised in partnership with the Association of Independent Music.

Organisers claim Above The Noise will enable South West musicians to “unlock essential knowledge” and “level up the skills needed to advance their careers.”
The conference will begin at midday, with doors at 11am, and last until 4.30pm. Then until 5.30pm, a “dedicated networking session” will be held, aiming to connect musicians from across the South West.
The conference intends to platform “top industry experts and key music support organisations.”
Notable speakers include Izzy Cross, Director of Noods Levels – a Bristol-based radio station and events runner that claims to “build confidence, networks, and skills for early-career creatives.”

Attendees will also hear from BERWYN, a Trinidadian-born, London-based rapper and songwriter whose album Demotape/Vega was shortlisted for the Mercury Prize in 2021.
Above The Noise will give the floor to local businesspeople of Bristol’s music scene, including Jamell Ackford, director of culture at the Trinity Centre, Leigh Dennis, co-founder of Strange Brew, and Hadie Abido, co-founder and director of The Jam Jar.
In the evening, doors will open at 7pm for a showcase of music from Marla Kether, ssadcharlie, t l k and Tlya X An (TXN).
The website says of the showcase: “Immerse yourself in an eclectic range of bold new music from some of the West of England’s most forward-thinking artists.”
