There’s good news for local location spotters this week as the Hellboy ‘reboot’ opens in cinemas. Back in September 2017, this became Bristolian UK Unit Production Manager Benjamin Greenacre’s fourth and biggest project in his home city. A big action sequence with SWAT teams, firearms and armoured vehicles was shot at Waring House in Redcliffe, using Bristol’s Bottle Yard Studios as a production base. Other local locations to watch out for are Wells Cathedral and Grittleton House, near Bath.

Also out this week is Wild Rose – the Glaswegian A Star Is Born, if you must, with Jessie Buckley as an ex-con C&W singer. Elsewhere, Monty Python’s never-more-timely assault on blind religious faith, Life of Brian, returns to upset a new generation of the easily offended; the RSC’s latest production of As You Like It is the big event cinema broadcast; and South West Silents presents the first screening outside London of The City Without Jews.
We’ve also updated our guide to Easter family films. This week brings a free outdoor screening of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory in Millennium Square.
