Locally made supernatural thriller Binding Eva premieres at FrightFest
“Deep in an English forest, a man on the run returns again and again to the same moment of judgement. . . and the same impossible choice.”
That’s the intriguing teaser synopsis for Binding Eva, a new self-financed supernatural thriller, which has been selected for the First Blood strand, dedicated to first-time British directors, at this year’s world-renowned Tubi FrightFest at the Odeon Luxe Leicester Square.

Shot entirely on location in the Forest of Dean and made through Bristol-based wrier/director Conscian Morgan’s company, Conscian Pictures, using a small team drawn largely from the city and the surrounding region, the film stars Scottish actor Ryan Ralph Gerrard, known for Outlander, alongside Catherine Deevy, Darcey Wood and Paddy Glynn. Post-production was carried out across Bristol, including sound design at Audio Uproar and additional post-production work at Films at 59.

“The Forest of Dean added something special to the film,” says Conscian. “There’s an energy to it that you can’t build on a set. We shot the whole thing there using vintage anamorphic lenses, and the forest became part of the story.”
Binding Eva premieres at FrightFest on Saturday 29 August. Tickets go on sale on Saturday 25 July. A Bristol screening has yet to be confirmed. Watch this space for more details as we get them.
