Exhibition from sculptor Lucianne Lassalle and painter RJ Pocklington comes to Centrespace Gallery
Bringing together two very different artistic styles, the upcoming exhibition In Form & Colour at Centrespace Gallery will feature sculpture from Lucianne Lassalle, alongside abstract painting by RJ Pocklington; two very contrasting artists, both exhibiting in their adopted city of Bristol for the first time.
Described as “one of the best figurative sculptors in the UK”, Lassalle was born in Paris in 1960 to a family of artists.
Following a life of creativity from childhood, she has developed a distinct sculptural practice over the last four decades that has garnered a loyal following.

Inspired by “archetypal myth, movement and street culture that describes the human form”, her style was once described as bridging the gap “between Hip-Hop and Michelangelo”.
Initially modelled initially in clay and then cast into bronze or mixed media, Lassalle’s sculptures are now held in private and public collections both in the UK and internationally.

Born in Grimsby and raised in Lincolnshire, Pocklington is a painter whose work straddles abstraction and impressionism.
Operating mainly in oil and acrylic on board, his paintings are rooted in gesture and movement, and often inspired by landscape, mood, memory and human interaction with the environment.
He has been selected for the Ashurst Emerging Artist Prize and pre-selected for the Royal Society of British Artists Annual Exhibition.
