Nepal Point Collective exhibition opens at IC Visual Lab
Showing at IC Visual Lab until July 26, Error 404 is described as an “urgent photography exhibit” from Nepal Point Collective.
It comprises an archive from the Gen Z anti-corruption protests in Nepal that took place in September 2025, marking “the single biggest movement of unrest since the Nepalese Civil War”.
Together, on-the-ground footage, images and memories documenting the time reflect the way in which an online uprising, sparked through hashtags and social media, collided with government censorship and access to information.
is needed now More than ever
Bristol-based social documentary photographer Mark Simmons, activist filmmaker Ollie Ley and The Bristol Cable have all contributed to the discussion around the exhibition.
“The story feels especially relevant now because mass media has shaped the wider narrative heavily, and many people still do not fully understand what happened”, remarks Ley.
“In a way, that is part of the story itself… it’s about the power social media platforms, state censorship and media framing have over global attention.”
