Caroline Norbury becomes chair of trustees at Aardman
Aardman have had trustees since co-founders Peter Lord and David Sproxton sold 75 per cent of their shares to a trust set up to hold those shares for the benefit of the animation studio’s employees.
Caroline Norbury has now become chair of trustees in Aardman’s 50th anniversary year, taking over from David Pester who she praised for his “thoughtful and sensitive leadership”.
Norbury was previously chief executive of Creative UK and before that led Creative England and its Bristol-based regional forerunner, South West Screen.
“I have been an Aardman fan since I first saw Morph on Take Hart and so it is an immense privilege to have been asked to be chair of trustees,” said Norbury, who started her career in community arts before becoming a film and television producer.
“Inventiveness, innovation, humour and creativity, with a huge dash of humanity, are hard-wired into the DNA of Aardman.
“It is our job as trustees to ensure that these core values are sustained and that the business remains committed to its values and principles as an employee-owned company and of course, a national treasure.
“It’s a huge responsibility for us all and one we take huge pride in.”
