They’re not exactly the same: the Peter Bogdanovich flick was based on a true story, while Stephen Chbosky’s follow-up to The Perks of Being a Wallflower is adapted from a bestselling novel. Underneath the prosthetics this time is 11-year-old Jacob Tremblay, who gave such an exceptional performance in Room. Demand your money back if the buttons marked ‘uplifting’, ‘inspiring’ and ‘heartwarming’ aren’t given a thorough pushing.
