Do you want a cycle hangar for your street?
Residents of Bedminster, Southville, Tottterdown and Windmill Hill are being asked on possible locations for 21 new cycle hangars.
The new hangars will join more than 70 others already in place across Bristol.
Up to six bicycles can be stored in a cycle hangar that takes up roughly the same space as one parking bay on the road.
is needed now More than ever
“Having somewhere safe and convenient to keep a bike can make a big difference, especially for people who don’t have space to store one at home,” said Ed Plowden, chair of the transport & connectivity committee.
“We know they are popular as places were snapped up very quickly last time and we still have waiting lists for them.
“These new cycle hangars would help more people across south Bristol choose cycling for short, everyday journeys – something that’s good for their health and wellbeing, while also helping to ease congestion and reduce air pollution locally.”
Residents are being sent letters by Bristol City Council to ask for their views, with the aim to install the hangars – funded through the Active Travel Fund secured by WECA – by the end of 2026.
