Wes Anderson‘s first animation since his great Fantastic Mr. Fox is a typically idiosyncratic yarn set in a dystopian future Japan where all mutts have been banished to a vast offshore rubbish dump called Trash Island.
Enter 12-year-old Atari Kobayashi, who flies to the island in such of his lost pooch, Spots (Liev Schreiber). Here he encounters a quintet of loquacious hounds led by Chief (Bryan Cranston): Rex (Edward Norton), Boss (Bill Murray), Duke (Jeff Goldblum) and King (Bob Balaban). The rest of the starry voice cast attracted by Anderson’s, ahem, pedigree includes Greta Gerwig, Frances McDormand, Harvey Keitel, Scarlett Johansson, Yoko Ono and Tilda Swinton.
