Rovers return to winning ways
Bristol Rovers Women lifted the Gloucestershire FA County Cup after beating Forest Green Rovers 5-1 on Thursday night.
The Gas Girls’ goals at the Oaklands Park Stadium in Almondsbury were scored by Chloe Snook, Chloe Bassett, Ruby Scahill, TJ Gauvain and Nia Rees.
It’s a return to silverware for the Gas, whose league campaign concludes on Sunday against Keynsham Town, with a third place finish in Division One South West of the National League the most likely scenario.

Rovers captain Layah Douglas said she was “buzzing” for the team to get a cup final win.
“It was important for us to end the season a high,” Douglas said.
“Obviously we played some really good football to get to this position and beaten some high opposition, and now to finally get the silverware is unreal.”

Gas Girls manager Nathan Hallett-Young added: “The one thing we have been saying is us being hungry for silverware.
“We’re a club that had been used to getting silverware as we’ve flown up the leagues and it has been a mainstay in our calendar and schedule, so I’m glad that we’ve got that back and I’m delighted for the team.”
