Here are Alan’s top-five Bristol favourites:

Ashley Vale Allotments

“An afternoon on my allotment, a stroll to the radio tower and beyond, a blissful lunch in St Werburgh’s City Farm Cafe or a pint in the Farm with mates.”

St Andrew’s Park

“St Andrew’s Park is a good place for a walk and to hopefully catch some impromptu live music by the felled tree. Snazzback and friends played some well-needed jams here during lockdowns.”

Fiddlers

Fiddlers is my favourite venue, where I’ve seen some world-class live music: Buena Vista Social Club, Eddie Palmieri, Sun Ra Arkestra, Adrian Sherwood dubbing up Laid Blak, and so many more.”

Wiper & True taproom

Argus Fish Bar

“The finest and freshest haddock and chips from the mighty James and his team at Argus Fish Bar on West Street. Spice it up with the big bottle of Sriracha next to the salt and vinegar! Official nosh of the Bemmie Lantern Parade.”
