Seven arrested on suspicion of murder after man’s death

By Martin Booth  Tuesday Feb 3, 2026

Seven men aged between 18 and 29 have been arrested and a murder investigation launched following the death of a man.

The man in his 40s was found critically injured in Easton on Monday evening and sadly died in hospital on Tuesday morning.

Police officers chased a group of men from around 10.45pm on Monday, with the chase taking place on foot from Stapleton Road and in and around Trinity Walk and George Jones Park.

At around 10.55pm, the man who later died was found seriously injured on Stapleton Road near its junction with Trinity Road.

Police cordons remain on Stapleton Road in Easton and George Jones Park in St Jude’s, and officers in white forensic suits have been combing nearby areas for much of Tuesday.

Superintendent Deepak Kenth from Avon & Somerset Police said: “Efforts to trace the man’s family are ongoing and a priority for us.

“They will be supported by specially-trained family liaison officers and kept up to date with developments in our investigation.

“This murder enquiry is in its early stages, and we will leave no stone unturned in our efforts to identify the person, or persons, responsible.

“Seven arrests were made last night prior to the man’s death, and those people will be questioned over the coming hours as we build up a comprehensive picture of what happened.

“We urge anyone with information, however inconsequential it may seem, to please come forward.

“We know the community will be shocked and greatly upset to learn of this tragedy and we will have extra officers in the area to provide reassurance over the coming days.

“Please speak to any of those officers if you have concerns, as they will be happy to help.”
