Recently resurfaced roads resurfaced
A new road surface that was only laid in December has been ripped up due to being inadequately installed.
The surface laid at the end of 2025 stretching from St Augustine’s Parade to College Green “is not of the correct standard, having failed to set properly because of the continued wet weather” according to Bristol City Council.
It is the latest bodge job in BS1 after a new surface covering the Centre over the former fountains was also installed only to be dug up and reinstalled.
Bristol24/7 understands that the redoing of this latest mistake is being carried out by contractors at no cost to the council.

The Canon’s Road and College Green junction was closed overnight on Wednesday and will also be closed from 9pm on Thursday to 5.30am on Friday to allow further resurfacing to take place.
A new red-coloured high friction surface is also being added in some areas.
