‘I’m more of a meme fan than a Come Dine With Me fan’
When Katherine Mehmet saw that a tagger had scrawled on the outside of her home in Hotwells, she decided to strike back.
“I was not overjoyed to be honest,” Katherine told Bristol24/7. “It’s not their home. I get it if you’re doing street art. There are so many beautiful pieces in Bristol. But a tag? Come on!”
“We left it for about a day. The next evening, I just went, ‘I’m going to do leave something behind for them’.” So they don’t do it again.”
The 27-year-old, who works in insurance, has lived on Hotwell Road opposite the Grain Barge with her boyfriend, Sam, a game developer, for a year-and-a-half.
What they decided to do was to write a note, in the style of a popular meme of a disgruntled Come Dine With Me. contestant, Peter Marshall.

Katherine’s note reads:
Hi there,
Thanks for tagging our home! I hope it makes you happy.
Dear lord, what a sad little life. You ruined the aesthetic completely so you could make yourself known, take this message along with some lessons in grace and decorum.
Because you have all the grace of a reversing dump truck without any tyres on.

“I’m more of a meme fan than a Come Dine With Me fan,” Katherine admitted.
Katherine said that she left the note “as a bit of fun”, but her actions are already being criticised by some people online after Bristol24/7 posted a photo of the note on Instagram.
She said: “I did it so when somebody walks past it will make them smile. At least it will brighten up someone’s day, not like a tag.
“It’s just a bit of fun. It’s my own home. If you don’t like, you can walk on past or scroll on through.”
