Colourful floating boathouses could be coming to docks
Interconnecting floating boathouses could become a colourful new feature of the Floating Harbour.
Ambitious plans from Young Bristol are for the dome-shaped boathouses to be built next to the Grain Barge, and for a garage on Hotwell Road to be extended and converted into a new cafe and community space.
Young Bristol’s existing brick building opposite the Mardyke would remain unaltered from the outside but see the creation of new changing facilities within the historic structure.

Planning documents say that the interlinking domes would “create a contemporary addition to the Floating Harbour”.
Young Bristol’s Pooles Wharf Outdoor Activity Centre is the base for activities including gig rowing, kayaking, raft building, canoeing and paddleboarding.
