Iftar on St Mark’s Road in solidarity with people in Palestine
People from across Bristol are invited to join in solidarity as an Iftar in Easton commemorates Palestinians.
The event on Sunday, April 7 will seek to replicate the sense of community and unity that has drawn thousands to St Mark’s Road for the Grand Iftar in previous years.
It will observe the breaking of the fast during Ramadan, when Muslims fast during daylight hours, and will provide an opportunity for people of all faiths and none to come together in unity.
is needed now More than ever
The event is being organised by a collaboration of organisations, including Bristol Palestine Alliance, Easton Jamia Masjid, St Mark’s Baptist Church, local businesses and the community.

Organisers say: “This special evening will be dedicated to commemorating the people of Palestine. We are proud to host this event in collaboration with the Bristol Palestine Alliance, local businesses and our vibrant community.
“We are excited to revive our annual Grand Iftar, reminiscent of our successful event in 2019, where a record 6,000 people joined us. We are eager to once again celebrate a brilliant and bustling Iftar on St Mark’s Road, ‘The Greatest Street in the country’.”
People are invited to observe the fast during the day and then gather on St Mark’s Road from 7pm, with the opportunity to break bread together at 7.55pm. Attendees can bring a dish and there will also be fruit, dates, vegetable biriyani and water available.
Muslims4Bristol are organising the city’s Grand Iftar, which has been taking place since 2017 and will take place on St Mark’s Road on Thursday, March 28, with a second event at Bristol Cathedral on Thursday, April 4.
