Bristol Charity Advent Calendar 2025, day 12: The Bristol Soup Run Trust
Volunteers at The Bristol Soup Run Trust have been offering food, drink and other essential supplies for the homeless every night of the year since 1987.
Between 9pm and 10.15pm every night, different teams head out equipped supplies to feed those in need.
The charity further supports Bristol’s homeless community and others by signposting them to relevant services as and when necessary.
Entirely volunteer-run, the charity is made up of a federation of twenty teams – some bigger, well-resourced and often church-based and others smaller, independent groups.
Central Church (also known as Pip N Jay) on Tower Hill and St Mary Redcliffe are two of the churches where volunteers regularly meet and distribute supplies.
The trust began nearly four decades ago, as a small group offering hot drinks and a listening ear to those who needed it.
With colder months setting in, the team are looking for as many donations as possible to continue supporting those in need.
On a recent Facebook post, the charity said: “As the Winter chill sets in, you can help us come together as a caring community to help the street homeless and others in need in Bristol.
“Your support is vital in enabling us to provide essential food, emergency clothing supplies and most importantly, a real sense of hope to the individuals who use the nightly soup run.”
