Bristol Charity Advent Calendar 2025, day 19: One25
One25 is a Bristol-based charity that works to support women who street sex work.
Aiming to support these individuals in processing crises and trauma, One25 hopes to help street sex workers find independence and safety in their communities.
“Our vision”, they say, “is of a world where all women are safe, feel loved and thrive.”

In the last year alone, One25 worked with 242 women, providing them much-needed support in leaving the world of street sex work, finding safety from violence and developing skills to help them thrive independently.
The recovery process is a multi-faceted one, with outreach vans, casework teams and health professionals all collaborating to ensure that each woman receives the care-driven, personalised and specific help that she needs.
“We meet women who have been deeply traumatised from childhood abuse and violence,” said the team at One25.
“This leads to life situations where they are stigmatised, marginalised, locked out of society.
“Many are in crisis and many are street sex-working.
“Yet these courageous women show tremendous skills and potential: in their supportive peer relationships, their creativity, humour and their survival.”
One25 work with women at each and every stage of their recovery journey, offering love and support without judgement or expectation.

The charity has been running since 1995, when they facilitated a drop-in session at the Salvation Army’s Candle Project on Lower Ashley Road.
Val Jeal, the community worker who initiated the session, wanted to lead the group in forming supportive, non-judgemental relationships with the women who attended.
Since then, they have grown exponentially, winning awards for their incredible work including the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service and the South West Impact Award.
Their work continues to support women all around the city to combat poverty, violence and addiction.
