World Naked Bike Ride returns to Bristol for 2025
The annual World Naked Bike Ride has closed out summer 2025 in Bristol.
While the rain pelted down, dozens of nude cyclists refused to let it dampen their protest.
“Is your skin waterproof?” organiser Dee called from the front of charge after the group assembled in the aptly named Full Moon.
Marshals lined route to Castle Park on Saturday afternoon where around 60 participants stopped to shake a leg and enjoy a musical display from Bristol Samba.
To some it may look like just a display of exhibitionism, but the longstanding event is a protest against car-centric cities and towns, from their heavy environmental impact to a consistent disregard from drivers for the safety of cyclists.
The lack of clothing is meant to highlight the vulnerability of cyclists who navigate congested areas like the Bearpit roundabout.
In the UK, an average of two pedal cyclists died and 80 were seriously injured per week in reported road casualties over the period 2019 to 2023.
But alongside the serious message, it was also an enjoyable carnival atmosphere for both participants and spectators alike.

“Demanding safer cycling to free Bristol from car culture” is their mission
