St Nicholas Market opens new ‘foodie spot’

By Karen Johnson  Wednesday Sep 25, 2024

A new covered market in St Nick’s is set to satiate the hunger cravings of Bristol’s foodies from Thursday.

FoodSource will be an indoor market with three new traders, serving up delicacies from across the world.

The public will soon be able to relish creations from Ceylon & Beyond’s new stall, freshly cooked Malaysian street food from Red Tiger and a feast of Jamaican flavours by Bristol Calabash.

EatDrink24/7 Launch Party is back on July 8 2026!

Introducing this new “foodie spot”, St Nick’s Market said on Instagram: “Paint pots are out, kitchens being prepped and final touches made.

“Keep your eyes peeled – inside scoop on the traders and their cuisine incoming.”

All traders are independent, driven by the passion to bring traditional flavours to the people of Bristol.

Red Tiger initially began their dream of bringing a “piece of Malaysia to Bristol” by catering for offices friends and then eventually night markets.

Founders, Previta Karthigesu and Harivendran Viswanathan told Bristol24/7: “Our family recipes, passed down through generations become an instant hit and we knew there was a demand for genuine Malaysian dishes like Nasi Lemak, Curry Laksa, Rendang and more!

They added: “Now with a permanent spot at St Nick’s, we’re proud to bring a piece of Malaysia to Bristol, offering a taste of home for locals and fellow Malaysians alike.”

Event caterers, Ceylon & Beyond have invited everyone to join the launch at 11am on Thursday, with free samples on offer.

Bristol Calabash, formerly known as Sabali Juice will quench thirsty throats with a range of juices and tipples, and traditional Jamaican snacks and sweet treats.

Ahead of their opening, Bristol Calabash shared glimpses of their new permanent premises on Instagram and said: “Exciting times ahead! We’re getting our new home at St. Nick’s Market! Ready for the big day.”

The traders will be inaugurating this new space and serving deliciousness within St. Nick’s Market on Corn Street.
