Peggy’s is the new name for two popular cafes
A neighbourhood coffee shop has revealed a new name and brand, but its owners promise to keep the same soul and community as ever.
Tincan Coffee Co. will now be known as Peggy’s across its two locations in Bristol on Gloucester Road and North Street.
The new name Peggy’s is a homage to owner Jessie Nicolson’s grandmother who she describes as a “strong, spirited woman”.
The coffee shop was first opened on North Street in 2016 and over the years it has become a true hub for the community. Locals, families, remote workers, students, retirees and their personal favourite, dogs, are all welcomed.

Just two years later they opened on Gloucester Road and now after nine years a new look has arrived.
The new Peggy’s will still be serving the same local coffee, homemade cakes, toasties and welcoming vibes that customers have grown to love.
Peggy’s have always prided themselves on their dedication to sustainability and supporting local suppliers from the Bristol area.

The house espresso is supplied by Triple Co Roast, who are based in Montpelier and who will be creating a special Peggy’s signature blend very soon.
Loose leaf tea is brought from Leafy Tea in Bath as well as the milk and eggs being sourced from cows and chickens reared by the nearby reservoir Chew Valley.
Owner Jessie Nicolson told Bristol24/7: “I wanted to freshen up both stores for 2025, and it seemed like a perfect opportunity to give the shops a brand new name!
“I want the shops to have a female name to give them more personality, and Peggy’s, which was my nan’s name, felt like a great fit.”

Jessie added: “Both shops have been through a lot over the years and are still going strong and I’d love to build on that, and make them the best they can possibly be.”
A family feel to the coffee shop has been created, with head chef Andre having worked there for seven years now and the community knowing where the go-to spot for brunch is.
Peggy’s on North Street is set to close for up to two days for painting and a refurbishment while the Gloucester Road branch has already had its makeover.
