Meat Liquor to close Stokes Croft restaurant
The queues out of the door that Meat Liquor restaurants in London are well-known for never materialised in their Bristol outpost.
And now bosses have made the not-surprising decision that they are shutting the Stokes Croft restaurant after less than two years.
A Facebook statement said that it is “with a heavy heart” that Meat Liquor will close for business on Sunday, October 22.
Meat Liquor always felt like an interloper on Stokes Croft, despite its attempt to blend in with graffiti commissioned both inside and out
“Our decision has not been an easy one, but after a series of incidents, both in the local area and in the restaurant itself, we have decided to put the safety of our staff first, something which is of paramount importance to us,” the statement said.
“We still adore Bristol, and will be actively looking for another site. Watch this space…
“We have thoroughly enjoyed our time here, and would like to thank all of our amazing customers and the local businesses who have joined us for the ride.”
The original Zazu’s Kitchen, the other side of Thomas Street from Meat Liquor, also took the decision to sell due to troubles in the local area.
Poco, which took over the premises, is thriving, however – and enjoying their busiest year so far.
Jamaica Street Stores, a couple of doors down from Poco, is also flourishing, having only opened its doors in August.
