Restaurant with ‘plates of big Thai flavours’ coming to Bristol
Spicy beef rotis and chicken satay bowls are some specialities of a new Thai restaurant coming to Bristol.
The Cardiff-based business, Brother Thai, will open in what was most recently the brunch restaurant Hotplate in the Carriageworks on Stokes Croft.
Founded in 2015, the “unique roti bar” by Andrew Chongsathien is known for its “plates of big Thai flavours”.

Brother Thai will open in the former site of Hotplate on Stokes Croft which closed in June
Regularly spotted at the Harbourside Market previously, Brother Thai said in May that they had been searching for a “Goldilocks site” for a few months to make a comeback.
Announcing their new site on Instagram, the team said: “Sawadee Bristol!
“It’s finally happening! We are returning to our great neighbours across the bridge and are setting up on Stokes Croft for Brother Thai site 2!
“We’re taking over the Carriageworks site and can’t wait to give it a new burst of Thai street food life.
“More updates coming soon from the Brother Thai family!”
On their Cardiff menu, the Thai restaurant has a selection of rotis, rice bowls and noodles – all promising strong flavours from the Southeast Asian country.
Hotplate, a Left Handed Giant venture, shut its doors in June after a little over a year of business, followed shortly by sister venue The Farside, also announcing its departure from Stokes Croft.
