Bristol brewery named among UK’s best
A Bristol brewery has been named among the UK’s best in a newly compiled list.
The Times whittled down more than 1,500 breweries across the UK to just eight, with Lost and Grounded in St Anne’s making the cut.
The list was put together by beer and pub culture writer, Pete Brown, who acknowledged the challenge but admitted it is a “nice problem to have”.

Brown, who has written around 12 books on beer and related subjects, including Hops and Glory, The Story of Craft Beer and The Pub, heaped praise on the ethos behind Lost and Grounded, describing it as “an inclusive place full of interesting people”.
He added: “Even before they decided it would be a brewery – although that was an obvious choice – they had their ethos.
“It was to be an inclusive place full of interesting people doing what they loved, at the heart of the community.”
Founded in 2016 by Alex Troncoso and Annie Clements, Lost and Grounded is best known for its Keller Pils, alongside a wide range of Belgian-style beers.
Lost and Grounded was one of just two West Country breweries included in the list, alongside Utopian in Devon.
The full list includes:
- Thornbridge – Bakewell, Derbyshire
- Anspach & Hobday – London
- Duration – West Acre, Norfolk
- Bullhouse – Belfast
- Burton Bridge and Heritage Brewing Co – Burton-on-Trent, Staffordshire
- Utopian – Crediton, Devon
- Lost and Grounded – Bristol
- Fyne Ales – Cairndow, Argyll
