London-born pizzeria bringing ‘slice of Naples’ to Bristol
A pizzeria founded by two brothers who once travelled from Italy to London in a three-wheeled van to learn about the secrets of authentic pizza making is preparing to open soon in Bristol.
James and Thom Elliot, the founders of London-born Pizza Pilgrims, launched their pizza business after a road trip across Italy in a little Piaggio Ape van in search of the perfect pizza.
The pair went on to serve the popular doughy creations at a London market before opening their first permanent restaurant in Soho in 2013.
Now the company is heading to Bristol, its 30th UK branch, moving into the former bookshop Stanford’s which closed down at the start of 2026.

The Corn Street premises has been given a huge makeover, with the new restaurant spanning two floors: the ground floor described as a “hidden trattoria” and the basement a “1970s-inspired Italo disco bar”.
James and Thom said: “Bristol has such a unique creative energy and an incredible food scene, so it’s been high on our list for a long time.
“We’re buzzing to finally be opening here and can’t wait to bring a little slice of Naples to Corn Street.”
To celebrate the opening, Pizza Pilgrims is giving away 1,000 free slices of its signature Neapolitan-style pizza on June 10 from midday.
Pizza Pilgrims is also offering 50 per cent off the bill during a soft launch between June 8-12.
