Stopping the Bus
Start The Bus is no more.
The popular Baldwin Street venue is now closed and due to be replaced by The Carnival Saloon, sadly not likely to be championing new music in quite the same way as its predecessor.
It was always surprising to Start The Bus fans when they found out that the venue so well known for hosting up and coming music acts was not an independent.
It is in fact owned by Mitchells & Butlers – owners of the likes of Harvester, Toby Carvery and O’Neills – whose new plans for it do include live music but with an increased emphasis on food, becoming a full table service restaurant.
Start The Bus’ closure has been greeted by dismay by Bristol music fans and artists:
