New free event series to address staffing, retention and wellbeing in hospitality
Bristol’s hospitality sector is being invited to come together to tackle staffing, retention and wellbeing challenges through a new free event series.
Launched by Bristol Food Network and Bristol BID, Hospitality for the Future aims to offer practical, real-world solutions to help businesses build more sustainable workplaces.
The first event, Hospitality That Works for Everyone, will take place on May 12 at The Radnor Rooms, bringing together restaurant owners, chefs and operators from across Bristol.
The session will focus on honest discussion, peer learning and actionable ideas, with speakers including Dan Ford, Jez Kynaston and Tess Lidstone, alongside a panel chaired by Bristol Food Network’s Heloise Balme.

Paula Ratcliffe, senior business engagement manager at Bristol BID, said: “Bristol’s hospitality sector is a vital part of the city’s culture and economy, but we know businesses are under real pressure when it comes to staffing and retention.
“This series is about creating space for practical conversations, sharing what’s working and supporting operators to build stronger, more sustainable workplaces.”

Heloise Balme at Bristol Food Network added: “We hear time and again that businesses don’t need more theory — they need real examples, honest conversations and ideas they can actually implement. This series is about bringing people together to learn from each other and start making changes that stick.”
The free event runs from 10am to 12pm and marks the start of a wider programme aimed at helping Bristol’s hospitality sector adapt and thrive.
