Family-owned recycling firm marks rapid growth in South West
Waste management firm Grundon has reported strong growth in Bristol as it continues to expand across the South West.
Customer numbers in the region have risen by a third in the past year, while staff at its St Philips depot have increased from 11 to 18 during 2025.
Since arriving in Bristol in 2019, the company has seen its regional customer base grow by 273 per cent, securing high-profile contracts with venues including Ashton Gate Stadium and Seat Unique Stadium, alongside hundreds of smaller businesses.
Senior sales executive Nick Malvern, who relocated from the company’s Bishop’s Cleeve depot in early 2024, has played a key role in driving that growth. He is now joined by sales executive Kristine Mantaja, with the pair covering much of the West of England.

“It’s been a great year for us,” said Nick. “We’ve managed to secure a number of the most prestigious venues in the city through the offer of a bespoke and customer-centric service.
“At the same time we’re providing reliable and cost-effective waste management for companies at the smaller end of the spectrum, focusing on quality of service while offering competitive prices.
“I’m delighted by the performance of the team based at our depot and, with more company developments in the pipeline, we’re looking forward to continuing to grow over coming years.”
Recent investment has included expanding the company’s vehicle fleet to service a wider range of containers, including skips, compactors and front-end loaders, enabling tailored waste solutions for businesses of different sizes.
Construction also began late last year on a new waste transfer station at its St Philips site, which will handle up to 50,000 tonnes of commercial and industrial waste annually.
The development is expected to create between six and eight full-time jobs, including transfer station operatives, machine drivers and a weighbridge role.
Founded in 1929, Grundon is the UK’s largest family-owned supplier of integrated waste management and environmental services.
