Just beneath the surface of the Nevada desert, huge, stinking, worm-like creatures are burrowing fast. Attracted by the slightest noise or vibration, they make short work of any humans unfortunate enough to cross their path. Redneck buddies Kevin Bacon and Fred Ward hitch up with girl seismologist Finn Carter, who’s conveniently conducting a research project in the area, to defend the town of Perfection against a siege by these ‘graboids’. Jaws goes West in this very attractive blend of big monster fantasy and dry, unemphatic comedy, with a story written well enough to keep things way above the usual level of dumb, unfunny spoof.
It’s back on screen as part of Bristol Film Festival’s ever-popular Halloween Horror in the Caves season down below in spooky ol’ Redcliffe Caves. Go here for more info and to book tickets.
