Slapstick 2020: Pierre Étaix – Yoyo + intro

Director
Pierre Étaix
Certificate
PG
Running Time
100 mins

Having lost his fortune in the stock market crash, an unhappy 1920s billionaire runs away to join the circus, where he falls in love with a beautiful actress and they have a son.

French clown Pierre Étaix was the recipient of the 2012 Aardman Slapstick Visual Comedy Award and this 1965 homage to silent comedy is ranked as his greatest achievement, packed as it is with sight gags and ingenious osund effects. What’s more, he plays both father and son. This Slapstick Festival screening will be introduced by film preservationist Serge Bromberg of Lobster Films.
