Bored Czech girls Marie I (Jitka Cerhová, brunette) and Marie II (Ivana Karbanová, blonde) decide to take on dreary consumerist society by breaking stuff in this colourful, anarchic and absurdist Czech comedy from 1966, which climaxes with an orgy of destruction at a banquet. The Commie authorities were not best pleased and withheld its release for a year.
Daisies makes a welcome return to the screen in the Watershed’s Revolt, She Said season, with an introduction by Cinema Producer Tara Judah.
