Every Kind of People
The latest exhibition at Hotwell Road’s always-excellent Lime Tree Gallery explores the variety of human life theme through the eyes of many of the gallery’s finest artists.
The result is a wide-ranging exhibition of interesting people doing interesting things in interesting places.
Highlights include a new artist to the gallery, locally-based Robert Hewer who trained at Bath Spa University graduating in 2013 and now lives and paints near the city.
Also new to the gallery is Gregory Mason, educated at St Martins School of Art and a finalist in the 2018 Sky Arts Landscape painter of the year competition.
Sophie Ploeg, based in Thornbury, winner of the Travel Award at the 2013 BP Portrait Award presents two beautiful new works, as does the hugely successful Scottish painter Steven Lindsay.
Other artists explore the faces of the Caribbean (Anne Anderson and Jackie Anderson), Russia, (Olga Oreshnikov and Nikolai Reznichenko), India (Natasha Kumar), and places closer to home, across a range of styles from representational, through playful to the ‘dark reforming shapes’ of Nottingham-based Oliver Lovley.
As always this is ‘painterly’ painting, underpinned by real skill and technique.
