Aliens of the Art World

Date: Friday, Mar 30 2018 - Wednesday, Apr 4 2018
Venue: Centrespace

“Out-of-this-world” exhibition curated by queer artists.

“We’re on a mission through the cosmos, through the atoms in our bodies, through the radio waves in the air. We’re on a mission to create our own home planet, our own galaxy, our own new constellations crammed into one room.

“We are the Aliens of the Art World. We are a group of queer female, non-binary and trans people trying to create a planet of our own.

EatDrink24/7 Launch Party is back on July 8 2026!
Exclusive collabs from Bristol’s favourite food vendors, available for one night only. Be first to grab your free copy of the EatDrink24/7 guide – plus every ticket comes with a free limited-edition beer can.

“When an alien is in a human space it is a freak to be pinned up and labelled like a butterfly, but an alien on their own planet is an individual, one facet of a wonderfully strange world. Our world, our spaceship, our home contains all manner of wonders, large and small, each alien bringing their own experiences to build our conglomeration of glory.

“This is about a chance, an opportunity, a celebration. It’s about turning all our voices into a massive fucking intergalactic soundsystem, instead of being lonely strangers shouting through a megaphone on the street.

“All work on show is inspired by the intergalactic, the outer space and the alien lifeform, looking at the themes of navigating queer reality and personal experience.

“Sixteen artists are exhibiting work, each using a different medium to respond to the queer universe. Expect to see larger-than-life props, wall-to-wall installations , a constellation of illustrations and paintings, costumes, poetry, photography and performance art.”

Fri, March 30-Wed, Apr 4, 11am-6pm. For more info, visit www.facebook.com/events/155370468479524
