My Bristol Favourites: Lily Batten
Lily Batten is the founder of communication and media consultancy, Synced Up.
A graduate of the University of Bristol and BIMM, Lily has more than ten years’ experience in strategic communications.
In recent months Lily and her team have placed a spotlight on inspiring Bristol-based companies.
These are Lily’s top-five Bristol favourites:
Sky Kong Kong
“Sky Kong Kong has been my favourite for years! There’s always a long list of people who are planning to go, so it can be hard to get into. Chef and owner Wizzy Chung tends to only open up when she fancies it. It’s hidden away in Haymarket Walk close to the Bearpit and has the most welcoming, massive table where everyone sits together. There isn’t a menu and you sit down and eat an endless meal cooked for you that evening. Wizzy (who has an amazing cookbook) has always been really vocal about keeping the spirit of the Bearpit alive.”
COR

“On a sunny evening, COR on North Street makes me feel like I’m on holiday. They open the doors and you can people-watch whilst eating unbelievable food and wine galore. It may be a little pricey but it’s worth it for a special occasion.”
Artichoke Wholefoods

“This small family fun shop is one of my locals in Fishponds. Even if I don’t need anything, I seem to come out of Artichoke Wholefoods with some incredible locally-made pastry, organic balm or vibrant prints. I’m trying to clean my house with less harmful chemicals and going to artichoke each week has made this a pleasure!”
Harry Blades and Angry Daves

“Christmas Steps is always an interesting place to walk up and down on a free day, no matter the weather. Harry Blades & Angry Daves has been here for years and feels like such a central part of the community. You’re always met with smiley faces and a cute fox wearing a top hat (not a real one, of course!).”
Eastville Park Community Cafe

“There are frequent events run at the space run by Friends of Eastville Park (just at the top of the park) and they are always really well attended. Last time, I picked up multiple bottles of homemade elderflower pressed which I gave to my friends as presents for months to come! A particular highlight for me is always the second-hand book sale and chatting with the many volunteers about the potential of an open-air pool returning to Eastville.”
