My Bristol Favourites: Sichan He

By Bristol24/7  Saturday Jan 21, 2017

Sichan, also known as Jessie, is a postgraduate student at the University of Bristol. Before coming to the UK, she worked for GSK-China as a senior clinical research associate and before that as a doctor at a hospital in Shenyang. She is in Bristol working her way back to becoming a doctor and a medical researcher, while also taking some of the city’s most beautiful and awe-inspiring photos which she shares on her Instagram account.

Here are Sichan’s top-five Bristol favourites (with her own photos to accompany each choice):

Streets and communities

“Walking along the beautiful streets in Bristol is a really pleasant thing. No matter if you are feeling cool, stressed or just with a thought of having a random walk. You will encounter Victorian architecture, lovely cats and dogs jostling each other, greetings and smiles from neighbours. Life can be so beautiful here.”

Parks and green spaces

“How could I forget Bristol’s parks? I have had so much joy feeding furry squirrels on Brandon Hill, walking on the soft grass riddled with cherry blossom petals; Finding the largest fallen leaf on Queen Square; or having strawberry ice cream and enjoying the sunshine at Ashton Court.”

Balloons

“I love the surprise when I am walking along a road as usual and a hot air balloon rises quietly like a beautiful dream floating in the sky. I’ve never been so close to balloons before coming to Bristol.”

Sunsets

“Many places in the world have beautiful sunset views, but there is something mesmerising about the ones in Bristol. They are truly unique and amazing.”

Riversides

“Exploring along the River Avon, you will find scenes like beautiful paintings on large canvasses drawn by nature. Around the harbourside, people chatting and having sandwiches with seagulls waiting for any possible chance. Around Redcliffe Wharf, the stunning reflection of St Mary Redcliffe makes me stop every time I pass by. Looking towards the Suspension Bridge along the Gorge is an epic picture.”
