Here are Hannah’s top-five Bristol favourites:
Harbourside
“With the Biennial hot desk just up on Park Street, a regular part of my day is having a meeting at No.1 Harbourside or going across to the Arnolfini. The markets are brilliant too, abundant and always very helpful in times of birthday present need, or just to do a snack and run.”
Olive Shed
“For dates and the best house wine in Bristol. The tapas is delicious and portion perfect. The Olive Shed is somewhere you want to eat pudding, and not feel like a giant slug afterwards. The service is faultless and I remember two years’ ago they let me buy an aubergine from the display outside. I was desperate and in great need of aubergine.”
St George Park
“I live just behind St George Park and ride through twice a day. It changes drastically in light and day, season by season. The sunset is astounding there, flooding the watery bottom and grassy slopes. I took a photo of a squirrel there just the other day with two giant green balls in it’s mouth. It’s a haven.”
Small Bar
“If you don’t like beer, just hang up your socks and get through the door. Small Bar is a place you can trust because it’s covered in wood. This, for some reason or other, always bodes well for great beer and friendly people. Before getting into an office space we would regularly meet here upstairs by the library.”
The Ethicurean
“I’ve never been to The Ethicurean but I know it will be a favourite. I’ve tried to make it there many times but have never quite succeeded. It’s a place that seems to have a little bit of magic surrounding it. It also stands for much of what Bristol is all about: independence, grow your own, eco-friendly, slightly bizarre and completely unique.”
