My Bristol favourites: Cathy Gremin

By Bristol24/7  Saturday Jul 18, 2015

Cathy Gremin is curator of the Bristol Plays Music stage in the Happy City area in front of the Thekla at this year’s Harbour Festival. The stage brings together the work of a few Bristol youth companies to produce a weekend of entertainment featuring the young people of Bristol.

Here are Cathy’s top-five Bristol favourites:

Floating Harbour

EatDrink24/7 Launch Party is back on July 8 2026!
Exclusive collabs from Bristol’s favourite food vendors, available for one night only. Be first to grab your free copy of the EatDrink24/7 guide – plus every ticket comes with a free limited-edition beer can.

“The delicious tapas at Spoke and Stringer and walking along the water – taking in the sights of the spectacular ss Great Britain and sounds of harbour life, especially this weekend during the Harbour Festival.”

Colston Hall

“Might seem a predictable choice as I work here. But I love this gold, shiny venue and the incredible range of acts and bespoke performances we bring to the city. Particular highlights have been Who is William Onyeabor?, Bonobo, Underworld and Nils Frahm. Coming up is one of our biggest shows to date which, as a bit of a jungle head ticks all my boxes: Goldie and the Heritage Orchestra at the Lloyds Amphitheatre performing his seminal album Timeless. Our transform the hall campaign to raise £45 million will finally give Bristol a musical venue that everyone can access and truly be proud of.”

Eastville Park and Snuff Mills

“As a mum I spend a lot of time in parks and skate spots across the city, but this is my all time favourite. I love living in the heart of the city and with just a short stroll feeling like you are in the middle of the countryside. You always see one of the herons that fish at the lakeside and if you’re lucky will spot a kingfisher or the family of otters. If you head down for twilight the park comes alive with sounds of birds and bats. It’s a very special place.”

The Plough Inn, Easton

“My friends run the Plough and is the best place for great music, friendly faces and late night shenanigans. They’ve recently started doing food and their Sunday roasts are one of Easton’s best kept secrets. Oh…”

No. 12 Easton

“I’ve lived in Easton for over 10 years and it’s changed a huge amount in that time. St Mark’s Road is unbeatable for all things food but for the best coffee and chats has to be Chris and his team at No. 12 Easton.”
