My Bristol favourites: Adrian Kirikmaa

By Bristol24/7  Friday Apr 24, 2015

Adrian Kirikmaa manages the catering restaurants and curriculum at City of Bristol College and will also be heavily involved in the upcoming Food Connections festival. He will be helping to prepare and serve the food for the Radio 4 Food and Farming Awards and hosting several other events including a pop-up restaurant lunch in the Eat Drink Bristol Fashion tipis on Queen Square, and on May 5 will be hosting The Great Bristol Menu with five of Bristol’s top chef’s at the college’s Hengrove Centre.

Here are Adrian’s top-five Bristol favourites:

The Fleece
“I’ve always enjoyed music and try to play the acoustic guitar. The Fleece is my favourite music venue in Bristol and I’m really glad it’s been saved from closure. Many, Many top bands have played at the Fleece and it underpins how diverse and brilliant Bristol’s music scene is. You can see the stage from all parts of the venue and has a great sound.  I remember as teenager supporting live gigs and the enjoyment and energy it created.”

EatDrink24/7 Launch Party is back on July 8 2026!
Exclusive collabs from Bristol’s favourite food vendors, available for one night only. Be first to grab your free copy of the EatDrink24/7 guide – plus every ticket comes with a free limited-edition beer can.

Blaise Castle
“As a young boy I used to enjoy visiting Blaise Castle with my friends and family. We used to walk through the woods, which became magical with stories of giants and castles. I was also married in the museum and often visit with my son, who loves the children’s play area.”

Joe’s Bakery
“The best bakery in Bristol. Martin from Joe’s Bakery inspired me to make my own sourdough. It was the best bread I have ever tasted. Artisan bakery is truly alive in Bristol with so many great bakeries in the city. He also works  with our students at the college, who really enjoy his expertise and especially when it comes to tasting the bread.”

The Pony & Trap
“My favourite restaurant in Bristol. The food at the Pony & Trap is top quality and represents local seasonal food at its best. The menu is always well thought-through with dishes based on childhood experiences, with chef-owner Josh Eggleton taking food and ingredients to the next level.”

Bristol’s food culture
“I love the diversity and culture within the Bristol food scene. There are so many different types of restaurants and bars, which are historic to Bristol. The food in the city is fantastic, which has created  a wealth of great chefs here and I strongly believe Bristol will become the food capital of England. I support and champion local producers and suppliers where ever I can and encourage everybody to cook seasonal food from scratch.”
