My Bristol Favourites: Angie Kenber

By bristol247, Friday Aug 25, 2017

Bristol artist Angie Kenber is exhibiting at The Other Art Fair as it returns to the Arnolfini from September 1 to 3. Artists from across the UK will be coming together to meet potential buyers face-to-face to create a social, relaxed atmosphere, making the fair great for first-time art buyers.

Here are Angie’s top five Bristol favourites:

BV Studios

“I am lucky enough to work in this amazing space. I have an L-shaped studio with a skylight window. Everyone at BV Studios is really friendly and supportive and our yearly open studios event bursts with buyers and art-lovers from far and wide.”

Windmill Hill City Farm

“From my studio I can hear the whoops of delight from children playing at the Windmill Hill City Farm opposite. The farm is an oasis of calm – a slice of the country with picturesque allotments filled with meadow flowers and veg. I can unwind and meditate there and return to my studio with loads of inspiration.”

Bristol Fine Art

“Just before I get to Bristol Fine Art, Nick George’s amazing Aladdin’s cave of everything a creative person could need, I always catch my breath at the bright bright red wall of The Bristol Guild on Park Row – especially if there’s a lime green car parked in front of it. Wow! A perfect colour combination for me. Nothing’s too much trouble for Nick. And I don’t know where my career would be without him!”

Colston Hall

“Pretty big-headed to say this but I’m proud of singing at the Colston Hall regularly with my choir, City of Bristol Choir. The atrium now has a great atmosphere for listening to impromptu music in the well area, having a catch-up with a friend, or a glass of sauvignon outside on the top balcony on a blowy summer’s night. I can’t help saying though that I can’t wait for the green room and the performers’ ladies’ loos to match the luxury of the entrance area!”

Land and Water by Angie Kenber

“I am lucky enough to live in central Bristol with a view over hills and even a glimpse of the river. Sunny, windy, rainy, whatever the weather it’s a treat to see so much land and sky. Something I’ve used in my paintings – with perhaps just a little artist’s license on the intensity of the bright colours!”
