My Bristol Favourites: Tez Kirby
Over the weekend of June 13 and 14, Tez Kirby will be taking part in his latest Tezathon – a 24-hour challenge at the Seat Unique Stadium in Ashley Down raising funds for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust and Cots for Tots.
Tez will alternate between one hour of table tennis and one hour of running around the stadium perimeter continuously for 24 hours, with just a five-minute break between each switch.

These are Tez’s top-five Bristol favourites:
Gloucestershire Cricket

“I absolutely love my time at Gloucestershire Cricket. The whole vibe at the ground is electric, the players and staff are amazing, and my husband and I are always made to feel completely at home. Watching the best cricket team in England (go Glos!) and bouncing off the atmosphere makes this a firm Bristol favourite for me. It isn’t just the cricket though, as there are fireworks, drone shows and live music events all in one place throughout the year. I always feel right at home at the stadium; so much so that I will be completing my Tezathon ’26 charity fundraiser here.”
The Library

An evening in the Library is more about enjoying cocktails than reading books – photo: The Library
“I am a little reluctant to put the Library in, as this is a little secret place that my family and I enjoy together. Remember the speakeasy establishments in the US? Well, this bar on St Nicholas Street in the Old City has the same vibe. You must book in advance to ensure you get in; and when you arrive are confronted by a shopfront with only bookcases lining the walls. But after one of the bookcases open, you walk through into another world of pure luxury. The best cocktails and a great chilled environment makes this go-to place for us to kick-off any great night in Bristol.”
PingPod
“Based in Hambrook in an industrial estate off the M32, if you don’t know about the Pod then you will never just bump into the place. PingPod is the number one place to play table tennis in the South West. There are three premium tables that you can book for an hour or more, anytime from early morning to late evening. The hi-tech kit with camera replays and digital scoring makes the Pod unique. I have developed all my table tennis skills at PingPod and I was lucky enough to complete my last 24-hour charity event here.
Troopers Hill

“As a massive trail running fan and coach for Bristol Trail Runners (go BTR!), Troopers Hill is an absolute definite to be one of my Bristol favourites. Steep climbs, gravel tracks, thistles and even a wood makes this perfect territory for an awesome hill session. I coach hills here for four months at the beginning of the year, and there is no place like it for pure range of terrains and technical ascents.”
Wardrobe Theatre

“We visit the Wardrobe Theatre for the most eclectic, diverse and entertaining performances you will ever see. The Wardrobe Theatre is based at the back of the Old Market Assembly and is a hidden gem. With only an 80-seat capacity, you feel you are actually performing with the actors as they are right in front of you and sometimes even in amongst you. Some performances are not for the delicate or faint-hearted, but that is what adds to the magic!”
