Three arrests following bomb scare
Three people have been arrested in connection with a car with false number plates which triggered a bomb scare after it was left illegally parked outside Bridewell police station.
A number of streets in the city centre – including Bridewell Street, Nelson Street, Silver Street, Union Street, Rupert Street and Haymarket, as well as Rupert Street car park – were closed on Sunday afternoon as a team of army bomb disposal experts carried out controlled explosions on the green VW Golf.
Two men, aged 23 and 24, and a 19-year-old woman have been arrested on suspicion of theft, going equipped for theft and causing a public nuisance.
They remain in police custody as the investigation continues.
