Thousands gather to remember war dead
Thousands of people have lined the streets of Bristol for a Remembrance Sunday parade to honour members of the armed forces killed in conflict.
The city centre was closed off as hundreds of veterans and serving servicemen and women paraded to the Cenotaph for a wreath laying ceremony. They were joined by politicians and religious leaders of all denominations for a ceremony led by the Bishop of Clifton.
As they marched through the streets the service men and women were applauded by the crowds.
This year the memorial is especially poignant as it marks the 100th anniversary of the start of World War One, 70 years since the D-Day landings and the withdrawal of Britain’s armed forces from Afghanistan.
