Road safety trial outside Bristol school
An 18 month road safety trial which will redirect traffic away from a south Bristol primary school, will begin this week.
It was announced in December that Upton Road, outside Ashton Gate Primary School, will be closed between Raleigh Road and Greenway Bush Lane.
Temporary barriers will be put in place for the duration of the trial to stop access on the 20-metre stretch of road.
is needed now More than ever

Bristol City Council said no decision has been made yet about closing the road permanently.
In a statement it said: “Comments will be invited during the first six months of the closure to help determine the best permanent solution for vehicle access.
Cllr Mark Bradshaw, cabinet member for transport, said: “We’ve been talking with the school and community about road safety improvements in Upton Road since the new school site opened in 2015.
“The road has been narrowed to reduce the length of the pedestrian crossing for pupils but we still noticed drivers cutting across the wider footways at junctions, leaving a serious safety risk for children and staff moving between sites for lessons.
“Having looked at all the options to improve the walking environment, we think the experimental closure of this short section is the best way forward. We will be monitoring the results closely.”
