New low carbon buses on Fishponds Road route
A new fleet of low carbon fleet of buses will be operating on the 48, 48A and 49 Services along Fishponds Road.
20 environmentally-friendly buses, each costing around £250,000, have been unveiled by First Bristol.
The buses are fitted with the latest Euro VI engines, which produce 95% less oxides of nitrogen (NOx) emissions they also have start-stop technology, which cuts out the engine when a bus is stationary.
is needed now More than ever
First Bristol managing director James Freeman (pictured above left with Councillor Mark Bradshaw) said: “These new buses will make a significant contribution towards our environmental performance including air quality in Bristol.
“A quarter of our fleet now consists of significantly cleaner buses, and the numbers are increasing steadily as part of our longstanding commitment to Bristol, which started when we became a proud partner of the Bristol Green Capital 2015.”
Councillor Mark Bradshaw, Bristol cabinet member for transport and infrastructure said: “Bristol has an urgent need for cleaner, greener buses and vehicles of all types. This major investment by First Bus in new low emissions buses gives Bristol the largest concentration of Euro VI double deck buses in the UK.
“Replacing buses and converting others to reduce emissions is vital as we combat traffic pollution. They will also provide a better, more convenient journey for people travelling on these routes. Most public transport journeys are made by bus and this will continue to be the case, so the investment is welcome.”
