New bottle shop and pantry from team behind popular Bristol kitchens
The team behind Snobby’s and Barroux are preparing to open a new bottle shop and pantry just a stone’s throw away from its sister venues.
Mr Nick’s Pantry will open in what was previously Sullen, a clothing shop and tattoo studio on the junction of Chandos Road and Cowper Road.
Owner Nick Bethell who was also a panellist for EatDrink24/7 2026 said: “We want to keep it simple and curated. We want to have two olive oils rather than a hundred.”

Mr Nick’s Pantry is expected to be home to fresh flowers, sandwiches and deli produce during the day, before transitioning into a venue serving pasta and wine in the evenings.
Nick said he decided to take on the space after he was approached by the building’s landlord. He hopes to create a dedicated wine cellar downstairs in the near future.
The food at the new venue is expected to have a pan-Mediterranean focus, blending Italian, French and Spanish cuisines while staying true to the couple’s love for ingredient-led cooking.
Nick also has plans to host bread and butter tastings, encouraging customers to discover carefully selected ingredients.
For Nick’s wife Alice, the opening reflects the changing character of Chandos Road itself.
Traditionally, she explains, the street was known as an evening destination, with the street now beginning to develop stronger daytime offerings as well. The couple hope Mr Nick’s Pantry will become part of that daytime community.
Plans for the space include a small spritz bar in one corner, with benches running along the side of the restaurant for customers to enjoy drinks outside.
