Rees launches promised RPZ review
A review of Bristol’s controlled parking zones led by local councillors for each ward has been launched.
Mayor Marvin Rees promised to make residents’ parking zones (RPZ) relevant to each area in his election manifesto.
Public comments to local councillors will feed back to his office to make necessary tweaks. The first round of reviews were launched in Southville, Bedminster East, Spike Island, St Pauls and Easton and St Philip’s.

Five other schemes; Kingsdown, Cotham, Redcliffe, Cliftonwood and Hotwells and Bower Ashton, will follow with reviews starting on October 24.
RPZ’s were a key policy introduced by previous mayor George Ferguson and led to protests around the city.
“Surveys will be open to everyone and ask a series of questions about issues such as operating hours, double yellow lines and different types of parking that are provided in the scheme,” the city council said.
“They are not looking at changes that would affect all of the areas, such as permit arrangements, as these will be considered as part of a strategic review due later.”
