Maisie Williams donates to Bristol ARC’s coronavirus fundraiser

By Lowie Trevena  Monday Apr 27, 2020

Bristol ARC has promised to continue to provide the best possible care and love for its animals during the coronavirus pandemic, and a donation from Bristol-born actress Maisie Williams will help them continue their work.

The Game of Thrones actress reached out to the charity, which is based near Temple Meads, after hearing of its urgent appeal for funds.

Maisie, who adopted a dog from the shelter in 2016, donated £50,000 to the charity to support its appeal.

Bristol ARC, like many charities, has faced losing much of its income as a result of the pandemic, but is still working hard to look after the dogs, cats and other animals that live at the shelter.

The charity has had to close to the public for the time being, but the donation will make a huge difference in securing the charity’s future and in ensuring the wellbeing of animals it looks after.

“Bristol ARC changes the lives of animals every day and Sonny, my dog who I adopted from them a few years ago, has changed my life in many ways for the better,” says Maisie. “It’s so important in these difficult times not to forget about charities like Bristol ARC that need our help.

“We all need to stick together in these dark times and keep the world spinning regardless.”

“To know that Maisie respects and loves what we do so much means the world to us,” says Jodie Hayward, Bristol ARC’s animal home manager. “I couldn’t believe it when I heard what she had done to support us, I had to hold back a few tears!

“It really will make the world of difference to us right now and we can’t thank her enough for her generosity”.
