Electric Vehicle World Congress 2021 to be held in Bristol

Aimed at local councils, transport authorities, bus companies, car park operators and more, a global gathering of anyone interested in electric vehicles is coming to Bristol.

Sponsored by BP, the EV World Congress promises “a chance to share insight and inspiration as the world starts to move on post Covid toward hitting ambitious decarbonisation goals in 2030 and beyond”.

“As ever, we will bring world leading organisations, cities, and technology providers to the UK to inspire EV innovators and delve into the challenges as the UK revolutionises road transport.”

Giving the opening keynote speeech at the event taking place at the Marriott City Centre hotel on October 19 and 20 is Bristol City Council cabinet member Nicola Beech.

Asked on Twitter by former chair of Bristol Cycling Campaign, Nicholas Davies, what Bristol is doing to enable sustainable transport, Beech replied: “Pedestrianisation of old city, Cotham Hill king street, Clifton – Closure of Bristol Bridge / bus only – Pop up cycle lanes during covid – The redesign of Old Market Roundabout for cyclists and walkers -New cycle infrastructure in Bedminster, Baldwin street”

Other speakers at the EV World Congress include Go Ultra Low West project manager Lloyd Allen, Bristol Airport infrastructure director Andrew Goodenough and First Bus’ Garry Birmingham; who will join representatives from companies including BlackRock, the world’s largest asset manager, at the two-day event.
