Denyer challenged for leadership of Green Party
Bristol Central MP Carla Denyer is currently the co-leader of the Green Party alongside fellow MP Adrian Ramsay.
The pair, who have been Green co-leaders since 2021, now face a challenge from deputy leader and London Assembly member Zack Polanski, who says the party can learn from the recent electoral success of Reform.
Under Green Party rules, a leader and deputy leaders are elected every two years.
Polanski’s campaign has already been backed by Danica Priest, a prominent environmental and housing campaigner who stood unsuccessfully for the Greens in Bristol’s 2024 local elections.
On Polanski’s website, backzack.com, he says: “The Labour Government is failing. The planet is burning.
“People are looking for somewhere to turn. Nigel Farage and his billionaire mates don’t have any real solutions.
“It’s time to rise up. We need bold action and bold leadership now. And that’s why I’m standing to be the leader of the Green Party.”
Priest, a vocal critic of the Green-led Bristol City Council, tweeted: “Now more than ever we need a leader that isn’t afraid to stand up for nature.
“We need someone that unapologetically supports communities fighting to protect irreplaceable habitats and understands that access to nature isn’t a luxury. That’s why I back @ZackPolanski”
