Aardman characters go global for The Grand Appeal

By Ellie Pipe  Wednesday Mar 27, 2019

A Bristol company is tapping into a sense of nostalgia among British people overseas to help raise money for The Grand Appeal.

British Corner Shop will be packing miniature figurines of some of Aardman’s most-loved characters and sending them to homes around the world.

The company normally exports ‘typically British’ food products to some 196 countries, but has teamed up with Bristol Children’s Hospital Charity The Grand Appeal for a special campaign.

EatDrink24/7 Launch Party is back on July 8 2026!
Exclusive collabs from Bristol’s favourite food vendors, available for one night only. Be first to grab your free copy of the EatDrink24/7 guide – plus every ticket comes with a free limited-edition beer can.

Customers could find a Shaun the Sheep in their cereal

The #ForTheLoveOfFood campaign will feature an Easter hunt in which five of the Wallace & Gromit’s The Grand Appeal trail characters will be planted in order boxes, offering customers around the world a huge prize worth £300 should they find one.

“We’re thrilled to be working with the Bristol Children’s Hospital Charity The Grand Appeal this year – they’re doing some incredible work and it feels great to get behind such a great cause,” says Alex Kortland, communications manager at British Corner Shop.

“Wallace & Gromit have been such recognisable characters for many Brits growing up, so the nostalgic and emotional link between their branding and our British Expat customers is really strong!”

The Bristol exporter says it is the perfect opportunity to tap into people’s sense of nostalgia for the well known characters and raise money for the cause.

The Gromit Unleashed 2 trail in the summer of 2018 raised more than £1m for The Grand Appeal

Maxine Moustrides, corporate fundraiser at The Grand Appeal said: “We’re delighted to be working with British Corner Shop in their #ForTheLoveOfFood campaign this year.

“It’s only with the amazing generosity of local businesses that we can continue to support the thousands of patients who come to Bristol Children’s Hospital from throughout the region and their 1% donation day on April 1st will make an incredible difference”.
